Looking Back at 2017

Updated: Sep 27, 2021

December 2017 marked the 17th year Rob has spent incarcerated for a crime he didn't commit. With the loss of a good friend, legal stresses and the sheer psychological pressure solitary confinement puts on inmates, 2017 has been a hard year for Rob and those that love him. Despite these issues, Rob always aims to look at things from a positive viewpoint. With this in mind we thought we would ring in 2018 with a positive look at some of the things that happened for Rob last year! During Brighton's Fringe festival last May, Bailey Contemporary Arts featured a huge amount of Robs art in their gallery show entitled  "15 Years of Art from the Worst Place on Earth".

Additionally, The BBC covered Rob's art exhibition with an interview with a friend of Rob's and the gallery owner. You can listen HERE.

In June of this year, The Sweet Nightmares radio show on KPFT were kind enough to run a birthday special show for Rob that they could all listen to inside the prison walls. This featured many of Robs favorite metal tracks, some good talk radio with the host Herman and another of Robs good friends. Most importantly for Rob, the show featured a live, fiddle, birthday serenade from Jo Bird, of the Fiddle Witch and the Demons of Doom!

In July, JusBu- a Houston based online magazine-  featured Rob in their Truth and Justice Issue.

In the same month, Rob's case was also listed on Oxygen's Crime Time article: "5 People Who Were Convicted but Probably Didn't Commit the Crime".

You can check that out HERE.

In September, after a huge amount of work, Rob completed his Paralegal qualification. As most of us know, studying can be difficult in normal circumstances. With the added pressure of the death row living conditions, completing it is nothing short of remarkable.

And last but not least, as always, Rob continues to create amazing art from within his cage. Below are just some of his creations from 2017.

So, as we proceed into 2018 with the hope that it will be Rob's last new year locked up, we wish you all a very Happy New Year! Thank you all for your ongoing support.
